City Beat: Gran Turismo Gothenburg 2010
This weekend another interesting event has come to Göteborg! Gran Turismo Events is hosting Gran Turismo Gothenburg 2010 this weekend at the harbor. This year they've hosted events in Germany, Hungary, Poland, and now Sweden is up. While Gran Turismo Gothenburg is mainly for the drivers' enjoyment, the public are welcome to come to the track and watch for free.
This is not a racing event, rather a place for car enthusiasts to show off their "supercars" and take them for a spin on the track. There will be 100 cars (and drivers) participating. If the weather permits, you can see another 50-100 supercars parked for show. There will be many different cars at the event; names that stand out are Porsche, Lamborghini, and Ferrari, but you can click here to see all the cars currently registered. You can find more information about the event at their website, www.gt-gothenburg.com.
The Gran Turismo event is at the Volkswagen Eco Race Arena, right on the harbor. To get there, get off the tram at the stop Frihamnen. If coming from the city center, you will see the arena on your left as you cross the bridge right before Frihmanen. It is a few hundred meters back from the stop, right on the water; you should see it from the tram stop but here is a map (it is point A on the map).
The parts of the event open to the public are this Saturday and Sunday, times listed below. So you should be able to attend Majornadagen (see Sanna's post on Misi about it) and Gran Turismo Gothenburg, all in one weekend!
Where: Volkswagen Eco Race Arena, Frihamnen (on the harbor just after the bridge coming from downtown)
When: Sat. Sept. 25, 10.00-17.00, and Sun. Sept. 26, 10.00-15.00
