This Sunday is what we call First Advent, a Swedish traditional family day which will be followed by three others. What is then more right than visiting a Christmas market to get the right Christmas spirit? One of the most cosy and storied Christmas markets in Gothenburg is the one in Haga, which will be starting off this weekend.

Maybe it is time to start think about gifts for family and friends back home? In the Christmas market in Haga you will find handcraft, home made Christmas candy and Christmas decorations.  The cobblestone streets will be crowded with people enjoying the nice and cosy atmosphere in Haga. During the market days there will also be music and entertainment in the streets. You will probably get the chance to taste som hot Swedish "glögg" or a saffron bun (called Lussekatt) as well.

When the Gothenburg district Haga was renovated in the eithies, the old style was protected. Today it is one of the more attractive parts of Gothenburg, with apartment houses as well as many small shops and cafés. The Christmas market is open in December each year, providing both Gotheburgers and tourists with the right Christmas spirit.

When: Saturday 10-16, Sunday 11-16, all weekends until Christmas

Where: Haga Nygata
