Kungsbacka is a small town south of Gothenburg. You can get there by taking the commuter train (Pendeltåg) from Central station. It takes about 30 minutes and costs around 25 SEK.

From the station it just takes a few minutes’ walk to go to the centre. The centre is basically a market square where you can find markets in the afternoon from Tuesdays till Saturdays. There is also a small church at the market square and right next to it, there is the movie theatre “Facklan” (the only one in Kungsbacka ;) If you see a blockbuster there, you can first experience some very exotic commercials about local businesses.

From the market square you can stroll through the little streets and have a look at the shops. Mostly there are interior and cloth shops. If you feel like shopping at the big brands, you can walk to Kungsmässan which is a relatively big shopping mall, about 5 minutes from the station. But that is not all. If you really want to make a bargain, you can continue walking and go to Freeport - a brand outlet. Some bigger brands like Filippa K, Nike, Nudie Jeans, Scorett and Mexx have their stores there and offer some discounts of 20 – 50%.
Another nice thing to do in Kungsbacka is to walk around the area at the library. There is a small park and a little river. In summer time really a very nice place for picnics!

Tjöloholms Castle lies a bit outside the town centre of Kungsbacka. This Tudor-style castle was finished in 1904. During May the castle is opened on Saturdays and Sundays for guided tours. In summer time (that means from June until August) you can have a look at the luxurious rooms at the castle daily. During the summer period there are even some dramatised guided tours where you can get a good impression of what life could have been like in the castle. Until the end of May there is a exhibition about easter egg in the castle and there are some rumours that even the easter bunny lives somewhere around. In winter time, there is a very nice christmas market.

To get to the castle by public transportation is not easy. You can take the bus 732 from Kungsbacka and get off at the bus stop "Torpa Smedja" but from there is it still a 3 km walk to get to the castle.
