Veronica Maggio is the Swedish singer who after two albums and a bunch of singles has secured a spot on the nordic music stage. A couple of weeks ago she released her third album, which is already a huge success.

Her new album was released on 27th of April, which was just five years after her first single “Dumpa mig” was released, and about three years after her second album “Och vinnaren är…” Her new album “Satan i gatan” consists of 11 song about broken hearts, lost friendship and the feeling when you are leaving the club at the closing hour with new company. There are also geographic references from Berlin, Copenhagen, Paris and Stockholm. Her songs are pop songs with clear soul influences and the texts are in Swedish.

As her name indicates her father is Italian and her first music experiences were his tapes with Italian music from the 60’s and the 70’s and artists like Lucio Battisti, Rita Pavone and Adriano Celentano. She spent one year in Toscana as an 11-year old performing Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson hits for the neighbours. Most of her childhood was spent in Uppsala, where she attended music classes and in upper secondary school she started to search for her own musical frame. Eventually she met Swedish songwriter and producer Stefan Gräslund and all pieces came into place. The meeting resulted in her first album “Vatten och bröd”. Her new album “Satan i gatan” is produced together with the artist Christian Walz and a couple of the songs are written together with yet another Swedish artist, Marcus Krunegård.

The album release got a dream start and all songs were on the top 40 single list last week. On Friday 20th of May, Veronica Maggio will perform at Liseberg. I will be there for sure, will you?
